Some ramblings and a little explanation..

So I had slacked off on the running front a little last week.  I had two days of this:

Then there were a couple of days of weight lifting then I got in a quick 1 mile & 2 mile treadmill run later.  But I decided I still needed to stick to my long run schedule so on Sunday I went out for 12 miles.  Needless to say my legs were achy and sore so I decided it would be the perfect time to try some of these for the first time:
My 1st pair of compression socks!

After wearing them for about 4 hours post run I decided they were well worth it and made my legs feel significantly better.  Granted I still had some soreness but the achy feeling was completely gone.  The funny thing was I went over to my neighbors' house to return a jacket (they are both above mid 70s) and told them my compression sock story at which point they both pulled up a pants leg and said look we wear them every day and if they had it to do over again they would have started wearing them way sooner.  That was so cute.  They also said they get 2 a year that medical insurance pays for hmmmm.... Do you think I could get that same deal?  Doubtful :-)

So there you have it I have been MIA due to my hubs getting to be in town for 5 days then my dad came to visit for my brother's open house with his new wife then I was sad for a while and feeling overwhelmed with work and being alone again so kind of stayed off line from any social media for a while.  But now I have had time to gather myself and the run helped a lot in getting me back on track!  So what have you guys been up to?  I have a lot of reading to do!

Happy Valentine's Day?

Whether you are for, against, or could care less either way on this Valentine's Day you are bound to find at least one of these kind of funny...

t
I have a friend that this is perfect for and made me crack up when I thought of her, hope you read this!! :-)

It's true I must confess!

Ok so this one I hope is mainly from the guys!

Anyone doing a fun run for Valentine's Day?

For Valentine's Day I'd rather get something homemade or have a home cooked meal and stay in if I do anything at all.  This year I don't have that choice although I'm not sad about it because I get to see hubs for a whole 5 days at the end of the week!!  But I've decided what I'm getting for myself, these Ironman inspired Yurbuds, I think... Has anyone had any experience with these?  Do they really stay in?  I would love some input before I buy them...

Weekend Recap in photos..

Snuggle time with Lexi, no I didn't have to hold her down and force her to snuggle, or did I?
I won this at our Mardigra themed handicap run for guessing correctly that they had to ban throwing coconuts at the parades.  Sat was full of hilly runs!!
My sweet sister-in-law gave me yummy cookies as a thank you but I need to give some away before I eat them all!!

More snuggle time!

Sunday powder day!  Love skiing Taos in powder don't necessarily love having to drive in it and put chains on my wimpy care but it's the price you pay.

Too much fun!

Ski the trees when visibility is low is my theory because less wind and blowing snow in there!

What exciting things did you do this weekend?

Who watched the superbowl?

Not me! See I normally don't watch football anyway but I am one of those if asked to participate in a Super Bowl party then I will participate if not just for the company then commercials right... This year I was too busy looking at this:
I had a blast skiing in Taos and could really feel the legs burning, in a good way. The day before I had a good 10 mile run with some great running buddies! My parents didn't watch the super bowl either because they were on the other side of the equator taking pictures of the carnivals and doing a little bit of this:
I joked with them that this was a perfect picture of an Ironman in Training and and Ironman Spectator in Training! So if you did watch the Super Bowl which commercials do I need to look up on you tube?

Happy Friday!

I'm determined to have a better weekend then I did week, mainly just not feeling sick to my stomach...

Here are some things I'm loving this Firday:

Who doesn't love them some Hoops & Yoyo!  If you want to become my best friend just get me any card from these guys!

Ok so sometimes we do smell like the sweaty guy at the gym but the rest of the time.......

I'm also loving this gum it's dessert without the calories and I like a lot of garlic and onions so I'm usually in need of some gum:

And I always love my running club and this month's meeting was extra cool cause I got some free stuff, I won a gift card to a running store and got a water bottle!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I fell off the blogger wagon for about a week and I'm not really quite sure why.  I mean we did have another wedding in the family this weekend but I usually have time to recap after a weekend.  I guess I have no excuses.  How about last night I was stuck on the couch all night because of an unexplainable upset stomach.  I did get off the couch once to dry heave (tmi?).  But the worst part about it was that I missed hanging out with 2 of my favorite girlfriends and OHHHHh the gossip that I'm sure was told!  This stomach thing has been happening to me for years and no doctor really cares or they just call it ibs.  Every month or so I get a really upset stomach, extremely nauseous, and I'm on the couch all day or night then by the next morning I'm better. Things that make you go hmmm...

So a quick breakdown:

1.  My mother kicked a soccer ball full force into my face as I was leaning over cleaning up dog poo, talk about insult to injury!  She claims she was playing with the dog and it went the wrong way..Luckily the welt went away by the wedding.

2.  My brother got married in a park in January and it was warm, wow!

3. Got to see some old college friends and that was awesome!

4.  Managed to get two 5 mile runs in over the weekend but was less than was on my schedule so I've just switched last weeks workouts to this weeks since this was supposed to be a recovery week and it looks like I took that last week.

5. It was kind of hard to see my dad tired and a little down with all the complications from his surgery and the malnutrition but he is quickly recovering and I have not doubt he will be back to normal in no time.  He is a fighter!  Dad, just remember you are fighting to get better not with your family when you're told to take your vitamins :-)  Love you!  Get well soon!  We have some training to do!

6. I might have some exciting news next week involving my running club.

7. I have been having some weird mood swings and I'm not sure where it's coming from, yesterday I had that feeling like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and couldn't shake it.  But as long as I keep getting my workouts in I'm confident I will over come this.

8. It's Wed. which means we are half way through the week Yay!!!

9.  I increased my upper body weights for the 1st time in years so hopefully my arms don't bulk up too much, I already have a hard time fitting into sleeves on women's shirts :-)

So what do you do if your training schedule is thrown off?  Do you try to make up the miles?  Do you switch your schedule around?  Do you say forget it and just keep going where you left off?
