| When I first brought her home at 2 months old |
When I am alone on the home front and left to fend for myself and look after the house my days seem to run even shorter than normal. I get the inclination to try and take shortcuts. For example, instead of doing my training run then coming home to walk the dog 3 miles (this is required on a daily basis to try and keep her semi-calm) I try to do a training run with my dog. Seems logical right and usually before I even get through the first mile I’m reminded why I can’t do this as she jumps up at the leash trying to bite at it because it is what’s keeping her from running free! She will also sit randomly while looking back at me as her way of begging me to let her go on her own. The funny thing is that if I let the leash go she will grab ahold of it in her mouth and walk herself, but this only works until a car, cyclist, runners, or other dog comes along.
It’s a good thing she’s so cute……
She is: Translation:
Full of energy Will never leave you alone if you try to relax she will stop at nothing to get your attention (eating socks, barking at nothing, gnawing on you or any furniture you might have, even standing at the door and when you let her out she “fake” pees just to get you out of your seat!!!!)
Best training partner ever Will push you beyond your limits making you run faster than you ever have (unless you would prefer to have your arm pulled out of its socket), creates an obstacle course for you to ensure you are always on your toes (by running in front of you or wrapping the leash around your legs or playing frogger with traffic)
Loving If left to her own devices would lick you to death (her favorite seems to be stinky toes fresh out of a sweaty running sock), will jump on unassuming strangers to greet them and thinks jumping on a dogs face is the quickest way to make friends, bonus is she never growls
Very Smart Knows how to open doors to escape, will jump up against drawers to close them, can shake, high five, roll over and balance on her back legs to get a treat but the minute you run out of treats she will resort to eating whatever is in her sight ( we have found metal, plastic, tarp, cloth and string when cleaning up her poo – poo in the back yard)
Oh so cute Can trick people into thinking she’s sugar and spice and everything nice which will lead them to do things like pet her even if she’s jumping on them ruining their clothes and yes, she’s been taught not too, give her food off the counter even though that is a big NO- No in our house

| Path of destruction |
Just a few of my favorite stories: As I sat there one night trying to watch TV, first I heard an odd sound then I noticed the TV start to shake, then the modem fell off the cabinet. I realized my dog was outside frantically pulling and chewing on the cable line. Now it all made sense why my internet had stopped working the night before.
As I tried to sleep-in one day (that hardly ever happens) she figured out how to open the bedroom door and jumped on the bed and tried to lick my face and when I covered my face with the comforter she tried to dig me out from under it with her front paws!
If you are cooking and kick her out of the kitchen so she won’t eat scraps off the counter she runs over to the couch and stands on the very top of it so she can see what you are doing and if she sees anything fall to the ground she will sprint back into the kitchen to try and get to it before me.
She is just a puppy and we have taken her to training school and we will get it right one of these days. But I can’t help but think if a puppy is this challenging I can’t even imagine a child! J Now I get to go home to a wagging tail!
P.S. She must have known I was writing this post because yesterday I had my 1st successful run with her 2.8 miles!!

I love this translation, haha! perfect!
Awww, I love this!! Thanks for sharing
Aw! She's very cute. My dog Lloyd wouldn't make it a 1/2 mile. He has to pee on every bush within a 1/4 mile.
She's adorable! I loved this post. Dogs - so MUCH trouble...
yet worth every bit of it! I've always said puppies are much harder than babies.
I just came across your blog, and I will be following. Thanks for sharing about your running partner. My dog is impossible to train with. As a scent hound, she tries to follow everything she gets a whiff of in the wind.
