Well, after some ups and downs I made it through a week off from work, my husband's send off (kind of), and a half marathon that was at night! First I ran around for 3 days running errands trying to get name change stuff done then military stuff done, this whole time the hubs didn't have his official orders. On Thursday I left for Orlando, Fl. met up with 2 of my best girlfriends, spent 12 hours walking around the Disney Hollywood and Epcot parks, ate a humungo breakfast at Animal Kingdom then hung out by the pool trying to get our legs to recover, got a call from hubs saying he was leaving on Sun. morning probably while I would just be getting back from my race and after party.
It was a 10 pm race start and that was soooo hard I had no idea how to fuel for that. We had the really big and yummy breakfast buffet then we had PB&J sandwiches for lunch then for dinner I had some PB crackers and 1 packet of Clif Shot Blocks. We had to leave the hotel around 7:30 pm then wait around until race start. Luckily I was able to get bumped up to coral A so I got to hang out with my super fast gal pals until the start. It was cool that they had a firework start for each coral. There were cute Disney characters along the way with music (my camera battery died right before the race booo). By mile 8 I was so starving that I ate 2 clif gels even though the gels usually upset my stomach. It was hard to get into this race for several reasons, I wanted to cry for about the 1st two miles because of the news I had just received from hubs, then my legs felt like led from having walked around the parks for 12 hours the day before. At least the weather had cooled off so the humidity wasn't too bad. I powered through and finished in 2:16 which I know was slower than I wanted but I'm just glad I didn't have a meltdown in the middle. There were 8,254 finishers 5,213 of those were females. I was 1080/5,213 for female and 193/996 for my division. The finish line was the only part that I was disappointed in. You did a bunch of quick turns then all of a sudden you were at the finish with no spectators allowed to cheer you on, no special finish area (it was in the back of the park), and I thought it was WINE and dine not go grab a budlight. I don't think I'll do another night time run just because it is very hard to be ready for and as far as destination races I think unless I can stay after I will just do them locally and vacation separately. The best part about this weekend was getting to hang out with two awesome ladies and being distracted about home. BTW Kelly finished 3rd in our division and 15th overall female in 1:38 Awesome PR! My other friend Season finished in 1:56 which is totally awesome I'm so glad to have such great friends!

Great job on the race! Starting at 10pm would be hard! I've never done a non-morning race!
You look like you had a blast!
10pm start... never heard of that before..
Sounds like a lot of fun
I will have to look into that if I ever get back to straight runs again...
10pm start time would be awful, I am certain I would have been puking somewhere along the course. Kudos to you for pushing through and getting it done. At least you got some fun girlfriend time in :).
First, congrats to all 3 of you at the race
But 10pm?!?!?! Really?!?! And no people at the finish line to cheer you home?? Beer at a dash and wine? THough I am a finisher medal diva and I am in love with that medal
@Big Daddy Diesel Ha! Thanks for getting it, I didn't want to ruin the "magic" for my friends but I was a little disappointed in those things and I gotta say the Magic is a little creepy when it involves fingerprints at the entrance and cameras watching you everywhere :-)
But yes, nice medal it has some cheese, running shoes, and wine glass dangling from the bottom (although it should have been a beer can!)
CONGRATS! I had a bunch of friends who did this race. They said the same stuff about it. And also had fun! COOL medals for sure.
Sorry to hear you got some not so good news. I hope you are feeling better about that part of it. Maybe next year I can do this race.
