| My dad on the new bike he got after his wreck, he doesn't let it out of his sight! |
My dad cracked me up the other day when he called me and said this, "Why does it feel like work?" He was referring to running. See in preparation for going to Arizona to volunteer and possibly sign up for IM AZ I told him I know you can do the swim and I know you can do the bike with proper training but can you do the run? He got the OK from his doctor and his toe will survive the training for post race surgery but he hasn't ran probably in over 15 years. Time flies right? Well, in his head he is still the ultra fit triathlete that use to win his age group. First of all must be nice to have been so fit and fast that running didn't feel like work! :-) Second of all it takes time to get back into it. Of course, he is falling back on swimming and cycling because it's where he feels comfortable. The first thing I noticed is he kept trying to run after another workout. I suggested starting with the run, have fresh legs. He went for a 2 mile run after a 22 mile bike ride. When you are getting back into shape take the time to do it right and challenge yourself self by doing what's not comfortable.

| I will get back here and back into my skinny jeans again! |
So I started question my workout habits as of late. I have had a little bit of a hard time motivating myself to get out there during my off season. I found this
article and have been inspired to try and get up early to start the day off with a run. I think I'll still want to workout again after work but by starting the day off with a quick 2-3 mile run maybe I'll have more energy and motivation?!? Maybe I won't have another winter of wishing I could fit into my pants! I have refused to buy new work pants for the last year and keep thinking I will fit back into them, well winter is here again and I still can't breathe comfortably while sitting at work! I refuse to let this happen again! The thing is I hate getting up early. I've always said it feels like trash miles when I've worked out too early because it takes me the entire time to just wake up? What do you think?
So while my dad challenges him self with his running I'm going to challenge myself with morning workouts and my waistline! Wish us luck!

Good luck! Just keep the prize in the back of your head every time the laziness rolls in. I hate waking up early because it's so dark now but, I always tell myself "someone out there is training harder than you right now". and ain't that the truth! Keep up the drive :)
Good luck, you guys can DO IT!! I'm struggling with the waistline too and it's not due to lack of exercise...I think it's just that I'm so tired and eat too much to stay awake - hhaa. Morning running is tough when it's dark and cold, but I bet once you get going with it, it will be so much easier.
Hey Natasha. Mark here from DM. You should join Gwen and I for our morning runs. We have a great time. It's all about the company as well as the workout
I think we all get worn out and need a break, when our mind is struggling to do it, then its time to recover, refresh, try some other activities and then we get the itch to go at it
I love this!
You guys got this!!
IMAZ!! Awesome!! I'll be there cheering!
@Emz
Are you going to be at this years? We will be photographing the volunteers. So any suggestions on a good restaurant for 1 vegetarian and 1 non in the area?
once i got used to morning workouts, i fell in love with them. but it sucks until you are used to it.
